Project Introduction

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) is initiating a project to improve the SR 32 Corridor that connects Downtown Westfield and Downtown Noblesville. The first phase of the project development process includes performing on-site survey work and field investigations. This initial step tends to get curious minds wondering what is going on, so we have kicked off a project website to be a one-stop-shop for SR 32 project details – This website will be continually updated as the project progresses, so please use this site for finding up-to-date information and to reach out to the project team at any time with any questions or comments you may have. We look forward to working together on this much-needed improvement for the SR 32 corridor!

About the Project

The State Road 32 corridor between Westfield and Noblesville has seen rapid growth in development and traffic in recent years.  Such growth has increased the congestion and crash rate, especially at major intersections. INDOT has programmed a corridor improvement project to improve these needs.

The project is expected to begin east of the SR 32/East Street intersection in Westfield and end near the SR 32/Mensa Drive intersection in Noblesville, for a total distance of about five miles.

Current Project Activities

  • INDOT and its project team are now beginning the preliminary design activities. This includes conducting field work for topographic survey, ecology surveys, and pavement & bridge inspections. Information about these existing conditions is critical information to the design team as initial concepts are developed.
  • Since Federal transportation funds are being used, the project will comply with National Environmental Policy Act, or NEPA.  The NEPA process assesses the project for potential impacts to the human and natural environments and will be used to make decisions about the preferred improvement.
